How do I connect RemoDiag to my car?
Plug a Bluetooth OBD-II adapter into your car's OBD-II port, usually under the steering wheel. Pair it once in your Android phone's Bluetooth settings, then choose it in the app.
The adapter has to be a Bluetooth Classic ELM327 type. Adapters that only use Bluetooth Low Energy or WiFi do not work yet.
How does connecting with a mechanic work?
When the scan finds something, tap Ask a mechanic. Your report goes to RemoDiag's approved mechanics. When one takes it, you see their name and rating and decide whether to start.
Only then can they read your car live through your phone. Anything that would change the car stops on your phone for your confirmation, and you can stop the session at any time.
Is my vehicle data secure?
Your data travels encrypted. Scans stay on your phone until you ask for help. A help request is seen by RemoDiag's approved mechanics, and nobody reads your car live until you confirm them.
What cars are compatible with RemoDiag?
Cars with the standard 16-pin OBD-II port. That covers cars and light trucks sold new in the US from 1996, petrol cars sold new in the EU from 2001, diesel cars from 2004, and most cars elsewhere from the mid-2000s.
You also need an Android phone. The app is Android only for now.
What does the app explain in plain language?
The 125 most common engine fault codes, each with likely causes, how urgent it is and a rough repair cost. For any other code the app says what part of the car it belongs to, and a mechanic can take it from there.
